I'm Sean Fargo. Oftentimes, when we have trouble falling asleep, we can feel like our minds are distracted and busy. It can be hard to focus and let the thoughts go. Sometimes there's a lot of energy in the mind, in the head, which is totally natural.
It's perfectly normal. One way to help alleviate the thoughts and energy in the head is to bring energy into the body, and there's a few ways we can do this. Today, I would like to explore a mindfulness practice of feeling grounded as we lay down.
So I invite you to, to lay down in a safe and comfortable position. It can be helpful to lay on your back with your feet and legs outstretched and your hands by your side. Feeling warm, yet cool at the same time, about sixty-eight degrees.
I invite you to slowly close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Relaxing the body. Softening and loosening any tightness in the head or the body. And starting to feel your body as it touches the bed or the ground. Where are the places that you notice your body and your head touching?
Can you notice the ankles or heels of your feet touching the, the ground or the bed? Maybe you can feel your calves touching. Your left one and your right one. Can you notice your pelvic region touching the ground or your bed?
Different parts of the back or shoulders. Maybe you can feel your elbows, your left one and your right one. Or different parts of the hands and wrists as they lay comfortably on the bed. Just noticing what the body feels like laying down as it touches the ground or your bed.
Noticing all the touchpoints of the body. All of the points of contact as your body rests comfortably, soft, and open. Resting on the bed and ground. As you start to sense the weight of gravity as it pulls you downward. Feeling the weight of your body touching the bed.
Feeling the energy of your body release as you sink downwards into the bed in a relaxed, comfortable way. Just letting go of any tension and just softening into the bed.
